Today’s a bit of a change of pace from the chassis code series — this one’s an OFF ROAD lettering decal, a second style to go with the one I posted earlier.

A Design With Some History

This particular design isn’t new. I actually made it back in 2016 for a product my own company used to sell. That product’s been discontinued for a while now, so rather than let the artwork just sit unused, I’m releasing the vector for free here.

Where It Works

This one’s built for the usual crowd — pickup trucks, Wranglers, Broncos, and pretty much anything else that falls into the “off-road machine” category.

Sizing

The vector comes at a default size of 40 cm (about 15.75 in) wide, but I wouldn’t just use that number blindly. Measure the actual spot you’re planning to apply it to first, then resize the vector to match. Personally, I think a smaller version of this design tends to look better than going big — it reads as more of a deliberate detail rather than a huge graphic taking over the panel.

Design Details

Sharp corners on letters like the “F” have been rounded off. It’s a small thing, but it helps the vinyl hold up better over time instead of catching and lifting at those pointed edges.

An Unexpected Use: Covering Scratches

If you’ve got a scratch on the body from a camping trip or an off-road run, this can double as a cover for it. One thing to keep in mind, though — if the surface is rough or damaged, smooth it out first. Vinyl won’t adhere well over a rough or uneven area, so a little prep goes a long way before applying it.
