Continuing the Mercedes chassis code series, this one’s the S203 – the estate (wagon) version of the W203 C-Class.

A Car I’ve Never Actually Seen

I’ll be honest about this one: I don’t think I’ve ever come across an S203 in person, not even once. It’s not a car that shows up on the road where I am. But since I’m going through this lineup chassis code by chassis code, I didn’t want to skip a body style just because it’s rare around me — it belongs in the set, so here it is.

Why This One Works So Well on an Estate

Wagons like the S203 have a lot of glass – rear door windows, the D-pillar quarter glass, the trunk area – and on their own, that much glass can look a little plain. A small chassis code decal is a nice way to break that up without overdoing it.

The spot I’d point to specifically is the windows on either side of the trunk area, right around the driver and passenger side. It’s a natural fit for the shape of that glass, and I don’t think it can really go wrong there – it’s one of those placements that just works.

Sizing and Color

I’d keep this one modest – around 15 cm (about 5.91 in) is a good size for this spot. You don’t want it competing with the rest of the car, just adding a small detail.

For color, medium gray is a safe, clean choice. Matching the vinyl to the car’s own paint color also works well if you want it to look more built-in than added-on.

Sharp Corners, Rounded Off

Same as the rest of this series – any sharp corners on the lettering have been rounded, which helps it hold up better over time instead of lifting at the edges.
