I originally created this “HOT HATCH” lettering to put on my own Mustang. I tried using some existing handwritten-style fonts, but none of them really felt right for the car. So instead, I decided to write the lettering myself on an iPad and adjust each letter individually so that the characters flowed together naturally.

That’s actually what I like most about this design. It isn’t based on a standard font, so the lettering has a more natural, hand-drawn feel. I wasn’t really aiming for perfect readability as much as I was looking for a certain style and character. Sometimes the overall feel of the lettering is more important than making every letter look perfectly uniform.

If you like this kind of handwritten look, try using it in a smaller size on your car. I think the compact size works especially well as a subtle accent without making the design feel too bold.

4. DIY Vinyl Decal Installation Steps

Creating a high-quality decal using our free vector files is quick and easy:

7. Apply & Smooth: Position the decal, squeegee firmly from the center outwards, and slowly peel off the transfer tape at a sharp 45-degree angle.
